The Undocumented Americans by Karla Cornejo Villavicencio

An undocumented immigrant who graduated from Harvard and is pursuing a Ph.D. from Yale refused to write another “DREAMer” memoir. Instead, Karla Cornejo Villavicencio wrote about the immigrants who don’t “inspire hashtags or t-shirts”; undocumented immigrants who, if they’re acknowledged at all, are just seen as workers. In The Undocumented Americans, Villavicencio writes about the rich, complex lives of those so-called workers in a style so unique it defies description.
